I'm Michael Montgomery, but I go by Monty for short. Hint: It's the last name. This website holds my portfolio writing work and my wood burns, a hobby I'm interesting in.
Here are some of my burns!
My blog posts, interactive feature, digital story, and DIY wood burning content were made during my education at Kennesaw State University. Feel free to check them out.
I'm currently a student at the Kennesaw State University. I'm going for a Bachelor's Degree in Communications with a focus in Media Studies. Further down is what I've done in my student career.
I work as a project specialist intern for BrainJocks in Atlanta. My work includes technical writing for documentation, written guides, small group management and content administration and content entry for enterprise-level websites.
Well, I'm assuming you know about the wood burning by now, but my second passion is my Jeep Wrangler. I drive a 2006 Wrangler X, otherwise known as a "TJ". It's a 6-speed manual with a soft top (I can provide TONS of pictures). I love the damn bucket of bolts.
For about two years, I was a volunteer supervisor for Atlanta Habitat for Humanity every weekend. I mainly worked on siding and shingling roofs. It was a great experience and I still volunteer every now and then.
I'm fairly invested in PC gaming! I've been slowly upgrading my desktop myself and have learned a lot about what not to do when upgrading a desktop. Successfully, I've installed a new motherboard, power supply, processor, CPU fan, solid state drive, wireless card and graphics card! Most all together, but a few upgrades have been over time.

What I've Done
WRITING AND MEDIA:
I've written articles for an online social media platform, my college newspaper as well as marketing copy for my internship. For my internship, I started out as a marketing copywriter and have moved onto quality assurance and project specialist. I've been bouncing around a few projects and I enjoy it. The list includes technical documentation as well as some IT Support thrown in there.
I have written for The Odyssey - an online social media platform that allowed students to write for them. There are editors, Editors-In-Chief and thousands of articles. My articles still exist at: https://www.theodysseyonline.com/@michaelmontgomery
For my Communications degree, I've learned quite a bit - AP Style, grammar, visual communication, media production like graphic design and video editing, interpersonal communication and persuasion. From news writing, press releases to creating animated .gifs and videos, I hope to keep creating content. I'm very familiar with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
All in all, I like to be entertaining and educational, so that's my personal goal. I value being patient as a teacher and making people enjoy each other.
